
The New Hope Band is a rock band based in San Jose, California, where talented adult musicians come together to share their passion for music. Since 2008, we’ve been entertaining audiences throughout California while building confidence, friendships, and a true sense of community.
As a program of Hope Services, we believe in providing opportunities to develop their talents and creativity. Every performance celebrates inclusion, joy, inspiration, and being in the right place to share the power of music that brings many people together.
Meet the Band
Nehemiah Adjei
has been a part of the band since 2018. Nehemiah loves music, playing drums, playing piano, and singing. He shows his skills as part of the band. He enjoys reading and drawing. He attends Hope Services Day Program. Nehemiah’s favorite sports team is The Golden State Warriors. Being a part of the band makes him feel good! He likes jamming with our band. His rhythm, dance moves and smile are infectious!
Ravi Ayer
has been in the band since 2016. He likes biking, running, taking hikes, and playing tennis. He is in Special Olympics and plays tennis. Ravi likes playing tennis and working out in Los Gatos. He regularly takes piano and tennis lessons. Ravi enjoys watching San Jose Sharks. Being in the band brings Ravi happiness while practicing with his friends and really enjoys performing in front of an audience.
Josephine Cortez
has been in the band since it began in 2009. Known as “Josie” to her friends. She likes dancing when listening to good music. Josie likes playing video/board games, and shopping. She is partial to tennis and enjoys watching her favorite athlete, Serena Williams. Josie adores dogs and cats. She finds joy in practicing, singing, and performing with the band.
Ashley Cousino
has been in the band since its beginning, 2008. She loves performing and spending time with family and friends. Ashley is competitive and loves sports! She is an all-around athlete in Special Olympics of Northern California. Ashley is a lifelong learner at College of Adaptive Arts. Ashley and her best friend (Jenni) both sing in The New Hope Band. Being a member of the band brings her happiness and fulfillment.
Victor Gan
joined the band in 2023. Victor plays bass, cello and some guitar. He enjoys and participates in AMASE Cello & String Ensembles. Victor is a member of Turtleworks Embroidery Project Club. You can often find him dancing, singing and cooking. He is an athlete in various sports in Special Olympics. Victor has settled into playing bass for the band. Being in the band brings him joy.
Greg Luzano
joined the band in 2024. Greg plays electric and acoustic guitars. He loves music and enjoys many different types of music. As part of the band, Greg will share his joy and talent with our audiences. He likes making friends and on occasion he likes playing basketball. Greg’s main interests revolve around music and singing. He is self-taught at singing and playing guitars. Being a part of the band makes him feel good!
Jonathan Oxley
has been in the band since 2008. Jonathan prefers bowling and going to the movies. His interests are mainly music and art events. Jonathan likes the holiday season, spending time with family and good friends, and participating in festive parties. Johnathan is active in his community supporting downtown San Jose. Being in the band and performing makes Jonathan happy.
Jenni Pencer
joined the band in 2009. Jenni has fun watching TV, Visiting with friends, and listening to music. She loves the San Francisco 49ers and the Giants! Jenni is a veteran athlete in Special Olympics and attends College of Adaptive Arts. She has built many friendships within the band over the years. When Jenni’s asked about the band she states, “I LOVE IT AND ALL THE PEOPLE IN IT!”
Patrick Powers
has been in the band since it began in 2008. Pat enjoys watching football, especially the San Francisco 49ers. He likes listening to music for fun. Patrick’s favorite song is “Rocky Mountain High” by John Denver. You should look forward to hearing him perform this song at one of our gigs. Patrick is known as “Pat” to his family and friends. Being in the band makes him feel happy.
Amy Qing
loves music and especially Hip-Hop. Her sports interests are bowling, swimming, skiing, and golf. The San Jose Sharks Hockey Team is who she roots for. Amy enjoys singing and dancing. Her favorite singer is Ariana Grande. Amy takes pleasure in spending time with her cat “Tiger”. She has fun singing in the band. Amy feels that being in The New Hope Band makes her feel great!
Tony Salazar
has been in the band since 2008. Tony has fun performing and being with his musical family. He is a member of Hope Services Day Program. Tony plays keyboard, accordion and sings. He has many talents. Tony is proud to be a member of the band. He has performed for Golden State Warriors and SF Giants. He loves sharing joy through music.

Netta Anderson
Executive Band Director
Netta has been a driving force with the band since it began in 2008. Professionally, she has been an advocate for our community for 30+ years. She believes in each band member and understands her role in supporting them as they reach their musical potential. When given the opportunity to perform, they bring joy, inspiration, and they never disappoint! Netta is thankful to Hope Services and her amazing staff.
Marcus Salomon
Band Director
Performing professionally since age 13. Marcus’ career includes touring with the band Roadhouse opening for headline acts, musical theatre, 25 years teaching vocals, 15 years president of an Event Production Company. Inducted with Roadhouse into the Las Vegas Rock ’n Roll Reunion Hall of Fame in 2011, Marcus also created the rock show, City Rocks and now brings his lifetime of musical experience and passion to his role as Music Director of The New Hope Band.
Sally Duprey
Assistant Band Director
Music has been an integral part of Sally’s personal and professional life. After following the band as a fan from its beginning, she was delighted to join the staff in 2024, following her retirement from 39 years of teaching special education. At every rehearsal and performance, Sally continues to be filled with incredible joy by the wondrousness of The New Hope Band and hopes you enjoy them as well!
